WELCOME TO OUR SITE TO
BE A GREAT BABYSITTER
PET CPR AND HEALTH CARE
"Babysitting is Rarely Sitting"
Our students receive a certificate of completion to show the parents and are certified by the American Heart Association for CPR and choking if they are able to satisfactorily complete the tasks.
Safety in babysitting is essential for both the sitter and the children. We feel that understanding each of the age groups, knowing how to use a fire extinguisher, how to negotiate so a child will cooperate, conflict resolutions and setting boundaries are ALL important functions of this all important job.
What is the location?
Classes are held in Burlington NJ but we are a mobile training center and are happy to come to a location designated by you if you have a group of young adults who are registered. There is no additional charge for this service.
PA residents should call 717-215-2611 to schedule a class. Our scheduled group classes are held at Burlington Church of the Nazarene (see below)
What if I have questions?
Kathy Cortellessa is our most dynamic trainer and easily brings fun and engagement to all the subject matter she teaches. Children and Dogs are her favorite class because the energy is always positive and exciting. She can be reached at 717-215-2611 or click to submit a form for questions and a quick response. (Discounts are offered for groups of 10 and more and we can come to your business facility at no extra charge.)
How much does it cost?
The cost of the class is $80 per student. The class content will take approximately 4 hours to complete depending on the size of the class. This is quality information, certification and training that is less than half the cost of other courses and has different and more up to date information than expensive courses.
WHAT DO WE LEARN?
You're in charge - but you're not the parent
Staying involved from infant to school age
Recognizing and avoiding safety hazards
Recognizing an emergency
Help the parents get to know you
CPR - do the skills and get certified
Distinguish between a minor problem and a major problem
Abdominal thrusts for choking
Who are your three lifelines
Our classes have tons of interaction for our students to participate in. We keep them busy and thinking.
Our students learn how to handle the four age groups from infant to school age. All age groups require a different approach and we make our students ready for the transition.
ABOUT YOUR TRAINER
Kathy has a favorire story that tells everyone who she is and what she tries to achieve every day. It's called the "Star Thrower". I HIGHLY rcommend this fun read.
The material in this module came from a series of 10 different families talking about what a babysitter should know for the parents to be happy and relaxed while out on a date. They discuss their issues, so we
can address and discuss this in our training.
Kathy spent 20 years as an HR Director, specializing in training and development of senior management professionals. She currently lives in Burlington Township with her husband and three dogs and enjoys the friendships she has built here in the area. She has two children and four grandchildren, Kathy loves teaching certification and recertification of BLS/CPR for healthcare professionals for the American Heart Association, and excels in teaching a fresh approach in all her subject matters.
Special thanks to former Fire Chief Todd Fell for taking the time to present fire safety situations to the class.
Each student was able to peform the necessary skills to become American Heart Association CPR certified. Great job girls!!
